GRE Waiver Request Form

All individuals applying to FAMU-FSU Engineering graduate degree programs must submit a valid GRE general exam result. However, there are some situations where this requirement can be waived.

Please Note - The GRE has automatically been waived for master's applicants applying through Fall 2026. Please do not complete this form if you are a master's applicant. All you need to do is submit a graduate application and the GRE requirement will automatically be waived.

Please note: Civil Engineering MEng applicants do not need to complete this form to use the FE/PE exam in place of GRE scores. If you wish to pursue this option, once your application is submitted, please upload proof of exam passage under the "Upload Materials" section on your Online Status Check.

GRE Waiver Request Criteria

In order to be considered for a GRE waiver, applicants must meet two or more of the following requirements. You may only select one undergraduate GPA requirement. Please check all that are applicable:

Earned or will earn a bachelor’s degree from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering with an Upper-division undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

Earned or will earn a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related field with an Upper-division undergraduate GPA of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher from any other regionally or internationally accredited college or university.

Earned a graduate degree in an Engineering or related field and earned a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher from any regionally or internationally accredited college or university.

Undergraduate research experience in an Engineering or relevant field with detailed research statements and reports/publications.

Post-graduate research experience in an Engineering or relevant field.

Co-authored research paper published in a peer-reviewed journal in Engineering or relevant Field.

Relevant employment for 3 years or more in an engineering field.

A 1-year funding offer from a faculty member from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.

Applicants will be contacted via email with a decision on the waiver request after department review. Approval of the GRE Waiver Request does not guarantee admission to the program or university. Prospective students must still submit and complete a Graduate Application and meet all university and department admissions requirements to be considered for admission.
